If one is following the Nigeria music industry
from the original epoch, one will nothing but agree that there are some people
who have actually struggle for the stable of hip hop and R & B in Nigeria.
To me these people are Legend or how would you describe them to the world if
not calling them legend? Or would someone deny the consistence of the man
called SOUND SULTAN in the music industry; a man who actually took a keen
interest in music in 1991.
Sultan is one of these legends and his impacts
cannot be underestimated in Nigeria music industry. Via peeping into his
journey, one would concur that he is not just an artiste but a mercenary in the
industry that keeps the industry going due to his desire for it.
Born Olanrewaju Fasasi, a graduate of Geography
and Regional Planning from the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos.
Sultan is
one the successful acts in Nigeria who have not just played music but also laid
a good temperament for other people to emulate. Let me take you back to 2001
when he released his first album titled Kpseeeeeeew, what about his second in
2004 “Compulsory
Text book” where we found hit single like MATHEMATICS. In 2007,
Sultan released another album titled Naija
007, 2008 was titled SS4, 2010
was Back to The future (Mission 2010) and 2012 was Me, My Mouth and Eye.
Sound Sultan has also built a strong
relationship with a lot of artistes most especially a renowned International
artist “Wyclef Jean”. He had
featured the artiste on some of his projects like King of My Country (2009) and
People Bad (2012). Due to his realistic delivery style which is unique and his
exemplary life in the industry, sultan was made a UN ambassador in 2007.
Sound Sultan has created
and laid a landmark in the Nigeria Music Industry which cannot be eliminated
even if he decided not to play music again. Truly, he is a legend who has relly
helped a lot of young act in the industry to define their sense of direction in
the industry a good example of that was SEAN TIZZLE.
A man with dignity in the industry; he has been
respected by lot of people in the Nigeria Music Industry and with that alone he
deserves to be a Legend of our generation.
